(KPL) Laos PDR has received ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards 2024.

The ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards 2024 Ceremony held in Vientiane on 26 January in the presence of Lao Minister of Information, culture and Tourism, Ms Suansavanh Viyaket,  Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn,  and ASEAN member countries.

In 2024, ASEAN countries received a total of 192 awards

The ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards including, 46 establishments in the region were honoured with the 9th ASEAN Green Hotel Award, 22 entities were honoured with the 4th ASEAN Clean Tourist City Award, 43 establishments were honoured with the 4th ASEAN MICE Venue Award (Category Meeting Room), 32 establishments honoured with the 2nd ASEAN MICE Venue Award (Category Exhibition Venue), 33 honoured with the 1st ASEAN MICE Venue Award (Category Event Venue), 9 establishments were honoured with the 4th ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award (Gastronomy Tourism theme; Rural Sustainable Product Category), and seven establishments were honoured with the 4th ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award (Gastronomy Tourism theme; Urban Sustainable Product Category).

 Laos  has received a total four standard award categories, including 20 awards, namely:  5 ASEAN Green Hotel Standard awards, 2 ASEAN Clean Tourism City Standard awards, 5 ASEAN Event Venue Standard, Conference Hall awards, one Exhibition Venue  award, 5 Festival Venue awards and 2 ASEAN Sustainable Tourism Award 2 awards.

The Meeting encouraged ASEAN Member States to further promote the ASEAN Tourism Standards within their respective countries to increase the region’s competitiveness.
