Laos, China deepen agricultural cooperation, facilitate int’l agricultural development through multiple channels

KPL (KPL) On June 6th, the Planting Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos, the South Subtropical Crops Research Institute of the China Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS) and Sichuan Sunshine Jiarun Modern Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. discussed at the CATAS about China’s assisting in the agricultural modernization development in Laos and the implementation of the cooperation matters stated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the “Agreement of Agricultural Technical Cooperation” signed by the three parties in March, 2023.

(KPL) On June 6th, the Planting Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos, the South Subtropical Crops Research Institute of the China Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS) and Sichuan Sunshine Jiarun Modern Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. discussed at the CATAS about China’s assisting in the agricultural modernization development in Laos and the implementation of the cooperation matters stated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the “Agreement of Agricultural Technical Cooperation” signed by the three parties in March, 2023.

At the conference, upon analyses and discussions, it was determined by all the parties to introduce advanced agricultural technologies and enterprise management experiences from China to Laos, give full play to Laos’ advantages in agricultural natural resources, establish relevant standards for the entire tropical agricultural industry chain, build a cross-border agricultural products trading platform, facilitate the digital development of the tropical agriculture industry in China and Laos, promote agricultural cooperation and enterprise trade cooperation between China and Laos, and push the development of the agriculture industry and agricultural trade in China, Laos and around the world. Under the basic principle of “extensive consultation, joint construction and sharing”, and in accordance with the agreements under the MOU, the objectives and plans for the cooperation among the three parties were discussed and formulated, including the establishment and implementation of agricultural research projects, technological innovations in agricultural machinery and technologies, the establishment of tropical crop germplasm banks, the establishment of tropical crop demonstration bases, the establishment of the Agricultural Talent Training Center in Laos, and the construction of an integrated standard system for testing and certification of the entire tropical agricultural industry chain.

The three parties have agreed to closely follow the Belt and Road Initiative, adhere to the concepts of peaceful cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, learning from each other, mutual benefit, win-win and green sustainability, seize the opportunity of the implementation of the “Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership” (RCEP), drive with innovation, execute the cooperation agreed in the MOU with Sichuan Sunshine Jiarun Modern Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. as a carrier, achieve the above objectives and plans in a high-quality manner, innovate and develop agriculture in Laos with Chinese wisdom, facilitate regional ecological protection and mutual economic prosperity, effectively promote green innovations and modern developments of agricultural technologies, agricultural investments, agricultural trades and the agricultural industry in China and Laos, and make positive contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind along the Belt and Road.
