Road 4B, built with US$ 65.6 million inaugurated

KPL (KPL) This week witnessed an inauguration ceremony held in Chomphet district, Luang Prabang, for newly built Road 4B stretching 114 km between Hongsa district of Xayaboury and Xiengmen district of Luang Prabang.

(KPL) This week witnessed an inauguration ceremony held in Chomphet district, Luang Prabang, for newly built Road 4B stretching 114 km between Hongsa district of Xayaboury and Xiengmen district of Luang Prabang.

The road was built with THB 2 billion, approximately over US$65.6 million, including 80% as loan and 20% as grant assistance from Thailand’s NEDA - Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency.  

Taking part in the ceremony included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Somdy Douangdy, NEDA President Perames Vudthitornetiraks, and representatives of Ministry of Public Works and Transport and other relevant authorities of Laos and Thailand and contractors.

The road has been built since 2015 as a double-bituminous-surface road with a width of 9 m in plain areas, 8 m in hilly areas and 7 m mountainous landscapes. Eight bridges have been built along the road including one bridge located in Xayaboury and seven in Luang Prabang.
