(KPL) The Lanexang United football team in Laos gained an unprecedented 1-0 victory over the Buriram United FC of Thailand in the first leg of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016.
The Lanexang United FC defeated the champion of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2015, Buriram United FC, at the Chao Anouvong Stadium on Jan 4.
In the second leg of the championship, Lanexang United and Buriram United FC will compete at Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on 8 January 2017.
If Lanexang United wins again, it will be crowned champion of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016.
In the most recent match, Lanexang United gained a 3-0 victory over Cambodia’s Boeung Ket Angkor FC at the National Olympic Stadium on December 31.
Although the Buriram United FC team has a lot of good players and played a great game, the Lao team fought hard and with the support of their fans, was able to pull through and finally gain the victory.
