(KPL) Mainstream media representatives from Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Japan and many other countries, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan, visited Chongzuo in Guangxi Provicne, China on May 28 to observe the green hills and clear waters and learn about local ancient Luo Yue culture and different customs in the China-Vietnam border area.

Chongzuo, a node city for organic connection in the construction of the “One Belt and One Road”, is located in the southern border of China and adjacent to Vietnam.

The border line is 533km long. There are 4 national first-class ports, 3 second-class ones and 14 frontier trading points within the area. It is the border city with the most ports in China. When people enter the territory of Chongzuo, the unique Karst lava features strikes people’s eyes.

The new city is built down the hills. The advertising signboards with “China-ASEAN”, “China-Vietnam Border” and other themes are hung and seen everywhere on urban streets. Vietnam's tropical fruits, Vietnamese food pavilions, Vietnam annatto furniture stores and other various Vietnamese characteristic elements have become special and unique landscapes in Chongzuo.

Chongzuo had been called “Xiang County” comprising the Luo Yue people, ancestors of the Zhuang nationality, and had a profound history. 

Feng Bo, Director of Chongzuo Tourism Development Committee said that relying on the advantage that Pingxiang is adjacent to Vietnam, the local tourism authority is accelerating the arrangement of tourism development in the border area between China and Vietnam, and the cross-border tourism corridor with adjoining mountains and rivers along the China-Vietnam border.

In Pingxiang City, “The Southern Gateway” of China, it takes 2 hours for Chinese tourists to handle travel passes with ID cards for visiting Lang Son, Halong Bay and other places in Vietnam. In 2015, the number of entries and exits at Youyi Guan Port in Pingxiang reached 1 million people.

Li Zhentang said, top leaders of China and Vietnam had reached the decision to construct the China-Vietnam Detian - Ban Gioc Falls International Tourism Cooperation Zone. Under such a framework, relevant authorities in Chongzuo are actively accelerating the negotiation on cross-border tourism cooperation with Cao Bang, Lang Son and other provinces in Vietnam, so as to speed up the construction of the cross-border tourism cooperation projects.

Relying on abundant tourism cultural resources in Chongzuo City, Chongzuo has been included in the first batch of red tourism international cooperation construction zones by the National Tourism Administration. It has a huge potential in tourism development in future. 

Currently, the “China-Vietnam Red Tourism International Construction Zone” has been settled down in Longzhou County, Guangxi.
