Police Detain 49 Suspected Scam Center Operators in Vientiane Province

KPL Police in Vientiane Province have detained 49 foreign nationals suspected of operating online scam centers in coordinated raids conducted in Vangvieng, Keooudom and Viengkham districts.
The operations, carried out on June 1-2 by provincial police in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security, targeted three locations where foreigners had reportedly rented guesthouses and private homes to conduct cybercrime activities.
Authorities detained 15 Chinese nationals and one Singaporean national at a guesthouse in Vangvieng District, seven Filipino nationals and one Malaysian national at a residence in Keooudom District, and 25 Malaysian nationals at a house in Viengkham District.
Police said they seized 35 passports, electronic devices and other equipment allegedly used in the operations.
All suspects, along with the seized evidence, were transferred to the Foreigner Management Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security for further investigation and legal proceedings.
