Sayaboury: Rice Aid Distributed to Disaster-Affected Families, Underprivileged Students

(KPL) A handover ceremony for rice donations was held late last week in Kenthao District, Xayaboury Province. The aid was directed towards families impacted by natural disasters in 2025 and underprivileged students in the north-western province.

The ceremony was presided over by Mr Bounyang Phanthavong, Vice Chairman of the District Administration Committee and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Committee. Participants included local disaster management officials, village authorities, teachers, and the beneficiary families and students.

According to Mr Anudet Phithak, Head of the District Labour and Social Welfare Office, a total of 3,000 kg of white rice was provided by ASEAN organisations.

The distribution followed guidelines from the Provincial Department of Labour and Social Welfare and district resolutions.

The allocation was divided as follows:

Some 2,760 kg of white rice was distributed to 77 families across eight villages: Houay La, Na Kham, Don Sang, Khae, Don Men, Houay Bouha, Pak Khaem, and Ban Nong; and 240 kg to 24 underprivileged students.
