Global Trade Evolution: Journalists Explore Economic History at UIBE Museum

KPL A delegation of experienced journalists on June 22 visited the Museum of International Business and Economics at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing.

The tour provided an in-depth examination of the historical trajectory of China’s foreign economic and trade relations, spanning from ancient Silk Road commerce to modern-day globalisation initiatives.


The exhibition highlighted several pivotal moments in the nation’s economic development. Ancient Trade Networks
The collection features significant cultural artefacts, including gold and silver coins from various ethnic groups and countries, documenting the early connections between China and the international community.
China’s WTO Accession.


The museum showcases a signature gold pen used during China's 2001 accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO)—a milestone that marked the country’s deeper integration into the global market.
Modern Initiatives
The exhibit details the impact of the "Belt and Road" initiative and the development of pilot free trade zones, emphasising the ongoing shift towards a "shared future for mankind" in global economic policy.
Historical Lessons
The museum’s narrative reinforces a central theme based on thousands of years of trade history: that an open approach to foreign economic engagement leads to prosperity, while isolationism inevitably leads to decline.
