(KPL) Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, accompanied by his spouse, cast their ballots on Feb 22 at the Phon Sinuan Village Office polling station in Sisattanak District, Vientiane Capital, during elections for the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Vientiane Capital People’s Council.
The voting took place amid broad public participation as Party and state leaders joined multi-ethnic Lao citizens nationwide in exercising their democratic rights in an orderly, peaceful and transparent manner.
Phon Sinuan Village operated two polling stations with 1,496 eligible voters, including 813 women. A total of 1,082 voters cast ballots, including 615 women. The Village Office polling station recorded 539 voters, including 318 women, while the primary school polling station recorded 543 voters, including 297 women.
In Vientiane Capital’s Constituency No. 1, 25 candidates are contesting 19 seats in the 10th National Assembly. Meanwhile, in Sisattanak District’s constituency, 7 candidates are competing for 5 seats in the 5th Vientiane Capital People’s Council.
