(KPL) Minister of Finance Santiphab Phomvihane, inspected the riverbank erosion protection project along the Heung River in Kaenthao District on February 15, 2026, urging contractors to accelerate construction to safeguard local communities.
He was joined by Phengnilanh Khamphanpheng, Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, Khampoun Nuansabab, District Governor of Kanthao, and other officials.
Authorities reported progress at three project sections. The Ban Khon Tapu–Ban Na Kengma stretch, more than 2,000 meters long and valued at over 49.65 billion kip, has reached 56 percent completion. The northern Ban Khon Tapu section, the largest at over 3,000 meters with a budget exceeding 104.24 billion kip, is 10 percent complete. The Ban Phuan section, spanning 590 meters and valued at more than 17.36 billion kip, has advanced to 65 percent completion.
The delegation also reviewed the planned bridge site across the Lai River, linking Ban Houay Xaykham and Ban Pang Kha, and inspected the proposed Pak Lay bypass road intended to ease traffic in the town center.
Officials said the projects aim to mitigate seasonal erosion, protect riverside communities and strengthen the province’s transport network.
