(KPL) The Committee for External Relations of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (CRPC) recently held a dissemination session on key documents related to the 10th National Assembly (NA) and the 5th Provincial People’s Council (PPC) elections, alongside activities commemorating the 77th Anniversary of the Lao People’s Army (January 20, 1949 – January 20, 2026).

The session was chaired by Mr. Bounleua Phandanouvong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Head of the CRPC, with participation from members of the Party Executive Committee, department heads, retired officials, and CRPC staff.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Bounleua presented Resolution No. 26/PCC of the Political Bureau, dated September 12, 2025, which underscores the need to strengthen leadership and close guidance by Party committees at all levels in preparation for the upcoming elections. The resolution also stresses raising public awareness of democratic rights as owners of the nation and ensuring a clear understanding of the legal framework governing the NA and PPC elections.

He urged all officials and staff to thoroughly internalize the Party’s policies and State laws, emphasizing political-ideological education, patriotism, and a strong sense of responsibility. The objective, he said, is to transform the elections into a “Great National Festival,” marked by the full exercise of democratic rights, transparent and lawful candidate selection, comprehensive security measures, zero spoiled ballots through effective voter education, and the voluntary participation of all eligible voters nationwide.

The session also served as an opportunity to reflect on the historic legacy of the Lao People’s Army on the occasion of its 77th anniversary. Mr. Bounleua noted that the establishment of the armed forces on January 20, 1949, represented a decisive turning point in Lao history, laying the foundation for revolutionary victory under the direct leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party. From its humble beginnings, the army grew into a powerful force with the support of the people, defeating both old and new colonial powers and continuing to play a vital role as a pillar of national defense, stability, and socio-economic development.
