(KPL) Mr Khampheng Xaysompheng, Member of the Party Central Committee and Governor of Huaphanh Province, received Mr Nguyen Chi Dung, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, and his delegation on 3 December during their working visit to Huaphanh Province.
The visit was seen as a contribution to strengthening the long-standing friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam. The relationship, forged through shared struggles for national liberation, continues to serve as a model of close bilateral cooperation.
Huaphanh Province, located in northeastern Laos and bordering three Vietnamese provinces, holds strategic significance for cross-border connectivity. The province maintains cooperation agreements with several Vietnamese provinces, covering socio-economic development, national defence, border security and other areas.
On the same day, Mr Khampheng also welcomed a high-level delegation from Thanh Hoa Province, led by Mr Nguyen Hoai Anh, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee.
The delegation visited Huaphanh to attend the handover and inauguration ceremony of the Lao–Vietnam Friendship Hospital and to discuss expanding cooperation in trade, investment, defence and security, education, culture, infrastructure and economic connectivity. The visit further strengthened political ties and laid a firm foundation for deeper socio-economic collaboration between the two nations.
