KPL (KPL/Xinhua) Singapore has seized 20 pieces of rhinoceros horns weighing 35.7 kg at Changi Airport, the largest haul of its kind in the country to date, according to a joint statement issued Tuesday by the National Parks Board (NParks) and air cargo handler SATS.

Authorities also uncovered about 150 kg of other animal parts, including bones, teeth and claws.

NParks' investigations found that the shipment of the rhinoceros horns, which was en route to Vientiane, Laos, originated from South Africa.

Species identification confirmed the 20 rhinoceros horns as belonging to White Rhinoceros. Identification of the other animal parts is ongoing.

The horns will be disposed of to prevent them from re-entering the market and to disrupt the global supply chain for illegally traded rhinoceros horn, the statement said.
