KPL (KPL) This October, Luang Prabang will be brewing with excitement as it hosts the International Coffee and Tea Day 2025 (ICTD) — a first-of-its-kind celebration bringing together lovers of both beverages for three unforgettable days of culture, community, and sustainability.

From 3–5 October 2025, the grounds of Luang Prabang Primary School will transform into a vibrant festival space, welcoming visitors to explore the best of Lao coffee and tea. Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in partnership with the Green CUP Project, this unique event marks the first time that International Coffee Day (1 October) and International Tea Day (21 May) will be celebrated together in Lao PDR under one united theme: “Coffee and Tea for Better Lives: Embracing Collaboration for a Sustainable Future," the event will highlight the diversity, quality, and sustainability of our country’s beloved products.

International Coffee Day, celebrated since 2018, has become a highlight in Lao’s cultural calendar, drawing thousands of visitors each year and reach the high record in 2024 with more than 16,000 attendees across Vientiane and Luang Prabang, with lively exhibitions, coffee cupping, panel discussions, and family-friendly activities.

Meanwhile, the tea sector is also gaining momentum and become an emerging source of pride and potential thanks to its unique tastes attached to its terroirs. The first celebration of the International Tea Day in the country was in 2022, and since then it has also become Lao’s cultural calendar and a platform to connect tea producers, businesses, and communities.

Hence, in 2025, the combined festival will be unmissable, bringing together the best of Lao coffee and tea. You’ll see exhibitions from leading producers, cooperatives, and entrepreneurs, and taste award-winning Lao tea and coffee. You’ll also enjoy coffee cupping and tea tasting guiding by experts, cheer for the barista competition, and join dynamic panel discussions that spotlight sustainable futures and agroforestry practices.

About the Green CUP Project: The Enhanced Green Economy Through a Quality, Climate-Resilient and Inclusive Value Chain (Green CUP) Project is one of the Team Europe interventions co-funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the European Union Delegation to Lao PDR under the #TeamEurope approach, supporting more than 3,000 households across Lao PDR to build inclusive, climate-resilient coffee and tea value chains.
