(KPL) On September 1, 2025, schools across the country simultaneously opened the new academic year 2025-2026 in a lively and vibrant atmosphere. In Vientiane, many schools held their opening ceremonies in an orderly and enthusiastic manner.

At Kao Na Primary and Secondary School, the start of the new academic year was marked by smiles, laughter, and determination as students lined up with excitement and readiness to return to school.

Mr. Bounvai Luanglad, Director of Kao Na Primary and Secondary School and English teacher, gave an interview to reporters from the Lao News Agency on this occasion. He explained that for the 2025-2026 academic year, the school has prioritized quality teaching and learning through a student-centered approach. The focus is on encouraging students to participate actively, share ideas and opinions, ask and answer questions, and express themselves confidently, rather than relying solely on teachers as explainers. This approach is in line with the school’s motto: “Study to excel, work to succeed, apply to be useful.”

To achieve this, the school has sent teachers to training programs on the use of teacher manuals for the new teaching and learning curriculum, ensuring that instruction is based on quality. Teachers are also required to arrive early and leave late to maintain discipline and ensure comprehensive, high-standard teaching and learning. The aim is to help students gain maximum knowledge and develop themselves under the five fundamental principles of education.

In addition to following the curriculum set by the Ministry of Education and Sports, the school places special emphasis on English language instruction and also offers additional Chinese language classes. Moreover, students are encouraged to engage in sports such as volleyball and sepak takraw to use their free time productively, stay away from addictive substances, and maintain good health.

Mr. Bounvai further noted that Kao Na Primary and Secondary School currently has more than 30 teachers, 25 classrooms, and nearly 900 students for the 2025-2026 academic year. He emphasized that teachers nationwide, and particularly those at Kao Na School, should serve as leaders and role models, devoting close attention to teaching, guiding, and nurturing students. The goal, he said, is to cultivate excellent students who are also good citizens, thereby contributing to national development and building the country’s reputation. He also stressed the importance of enforcing school regulations rigorously to maintain discipline among students.
