(KPL) The Department of Tourism of Guizhou Province, China, recently hosted a high-level regional tourism exchange event, bringing together 55 tourism-related organizations from Laos, Thailand, and Malaysia. The initiative aimed to strengthen cross-border collaboration, promote regional travel, and highlight Guizhou’s diverse cultural and natural attractions.

Among the Lao participants were Lao Overseas Travel Co., Ltd., Vongsa Vanh Travel Co., Ltd., J&T Travel Co., Ltd., and EBLao Travel Co., Ltd. The event was led by Mr. Zhang Meibiao, Director of the Tourism Market Management Office of Guizhou Province, alongside representatives from various tourism sectors.

Mr. Zhang emphasized that the exchange served as a valuable platform for exploring new travel routes and tourism opportunities across Guizhou. Key destinations showcased during the event included:

Xingtongnan City, the filming location of the popular historical drama Love in the Imperial Palace.

A 600-year-old Hmong ethnic village, opened to tourism in 2009.

The Huanggushu Waterfall, one of the largest in Asia.

The Forest Suspension Bridge connecting Guizhou and Kunming, featuring scenic viewpoints and spanning 1,088 meters.

Anshun City, renowned for its natural landscapes and vibrant ethnic culture.

The ancient town of Furongjiang, rich in cultural heritage.

The bustling Guiyang Night Market, with over 3,000 stalls offering local cuisine and souvenirs.

The event facilitated collaboration among travel companies to design tour packages that highlight Guizhou’s unique appeal—from unspoiled nature and historic landmarks to authentic ethnic experiences and local gastronomy. With 48 recognized ethnic groups, including a large Hmong population, Guizhou offers a deeply diverse cultural landscape for visitors.

Mr. Zhang also highlighted Guizhou’s growing accessibility, thanks to modern infrastructure including high-speed rail, expressways, and direct flights to 10 international destinations. An additional five routes are expected to launch by the end of the year.

Looking ahead, Guizhou and Laos plan to expand their tourism cooperation. Travel between the two regions is becoming increasingly convenient, with potential routes via high-speed train to Kunming and connecting flights to Vientiane. These improvements are expected to enhance two-way tourism and cultural exchange, allowing visitors from both sides to discover each other’s heritage and scenic wonders.
