Lao Delegation Pays Tribute to Former Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong in Hanoi

KPL On May 24, Vice President Pany Yathortou, a Politburo member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, led a high-ranking delegation from the Lao PDR to Hanoi, Vietnam, to pay tribute at the national memorial ceremony for Tran Duc Luong, former Politburo member and former President of Vietnam.

(KPL) On May 24, Vice President Pany Yathortou, a Politburo member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, led a high-ranking delegation from the Lao PDR to Hanoi, Vietnam, to pay tribute at the national memorial ceremony for Tran Duc Luong, former Politburo member and former President of Vietnam.

The former Vietnamese President passed away on May 20, 2025, at the age of 88. 

Vice President Pany Yathortou also signed a book of condolences with the following message:

"On behalf of the Party, National Assembly, Government, and Lao Front for National Development of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, we express our deepest condolences on the passing of Comrade Tran Duc Luong, former Politburo member and former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Comrade Tran Duc Luong was an outstanding leader of Vietnam, a steadfast revolutionary who dedicated his life to the Party, nation, and people. He was also a cherished friend of Laos, playing a pivotal role in strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between our two Parties, States, and peoples.

His passing is a profound loss for both Vietnam and Laos. We share in the grief of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the Government, the Fatherland Front, and the Vietnamese people, as well as Comrade Tran Duc Luong’s family and loved ones.

May his soul rest in peace."
