The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICT), in coordination with the Central Committee's Secretariat, convened a high-level meeting to absorb and align with new directives on organizational restructuring. The session was held in Vientiane on 18 April underchairmanship of Mr. Thongsalit Mangnomek, Secretary of the Central Party and Head of the Central Office, who also leads the Organizational Restructuring Committee.
(KPL) The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICT), in coordination with the Central Committee's Secretariat, convened a high-level meeting to absorb and align with new directives on organizational restructuring. The session was held in Vientiane on 18 April underchairmanship of Mr. Thongsalit Mangnomek, Secretary of the Central Party and Head of the Central Office, who also leads the Organizational Restructuring Committee.
Also in attendance were Ms. Suansavanh Vignaket, Party Secretary and Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism; deputy ministers; restructuring committee members; executive party leadership; grassroots representatives; and key staff from departments across the Ministry.
The primary objective of the meeting was to deepen understanding of the Party’s restructuring policy, unify perspectives across leadership tiers, and reinforce clarity on the strategic necessity for institutional reforms. A key decision shared during the session was the transfer of mass media functions—particularly those related to the press—from the Ministry to the Central Party’s Propaganda and Training Committee. Relevant personnel will be reassigned accordingly.
Minister Suansavanh Vignaket presented an overview of the Ministry’s current structure and outlined recent efforts to realign operations in accordance with Party and State directives. These efforts have included merging overlapping units, streamlining local-level structures, and optimizing efficiency to better fulfill the Ministry’s mission.
Mr. Thongsalit emphasized the importance of the restructuring initiative, citing Resolution No. 03 issued by the Party Central Committee Office on March 12, 2025. He outlined the rationale behind the reforms—whether through mergers, reallocation of responsibilities, or the dissolution of redundant units—as essential steps to boost effectiveness in delivering on political and administrative mandates, while ensuring alignment with the evolving socio-political landscape.
