KPL Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba sent a letter of condolence to his Lao counterpart, Sonexay Siphandone, following the passing of former President Khamtay Siphandone.

(KPL) Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba sent a letter of condolence to his Lao counterpart, Sonexay Siphandone, following the passing of former President Khamtay Siphandone.

The message read:

"On behalf of the Government and people of Japan, I wish to extend my deepest condolences to Your Excellency, the Siphandone family, the Lao Government, and the people of Laos on the passing of His Excellency Khamtay Siphandone, former President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Your Excellency’s father.

His Excellency Khamtay Siphandone was a pivotal figure in Laos’ development during a period of significant change. He also visited Japan as Prime Minister, further strengthening the bonds between our two nations.

I am certain that the grief felt by the Lao Government and people, who held him in the highest regard, is beyond words.

Once again, I offer my heartfelt condolences on the loss of His Excellency Khamtay Siphandone, whose lifelong contributions were instrumental in shaping the nation. May his soul rest in peace."
