(KPL) The 2nd Enlarged Government Meeting for 2024 convened on Jan 6-7, 2025, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.

The meeting gathered deputy prime ministers, cabinet members, provincial governors, the Mayor of Vientiane, and representatives from government and party organizations, legal and judicial bodies, the Lao Veterans Federation, and central mass organizations.

Discussions focused on pressing issues, including economic and financial challenges, mining and resource management, public security, social development, education reform, tourism development, land management, and energy solutions.

A key highlight was the emphasis on implementing Prime Minister’s Decree No. 702, which outlines responsibilities for executing the national socio-economic development plan, state budget plan, and monetary policy for 2025.

Prime Minister Sonexay underscored the global and regional complexities anticipated in 2025, citing conflicts and challenges that could hinder economic recovery and growth. He stressed that as the final year of the 9th National Socio-Economic Development Plan, 2025 would demand concerted efforts to address structural issues, enhance governance, and boost national competitiveness.

The meeting concluded with a call for unified action to address critical challenges and ensure the effective implementation of strategies to mark historical milestones and drive national progress.
