KPL The official inauguration of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Laos (CCIL) was held this Monday in Vientiane, marking a significant moment in strengthening the economic ties between France and Laos. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Mr. Stéphane Gil, President of the CCIL, Mr. Jean-Pierre Grzelczyk, board member of the Chamber and Director of Savan Logistics, Mrs. Siv-Leng Chhuor, Ambassador of France to Laos, and Mr. François Corbin, Special Representative for Economic Relations with ASEAN from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

(KPL)The official inauguration of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Laos (CCIL) was held this Monday in Vientiane, marking a significant moment in strengthening the economic ties between France and Laos. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Mr. Stéphane Gil, President of the CCIL, Mr. Jean-Pierre Grzelczyk, board member of the Chamber and Director of Savan Logistics, Mrs. Siv-Leng Chhuor, Ambassador of France to Laos, and Mr. François Corbin, Special Representative for Economic Relations with ASEAN from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A Ceremony Highlighting Cooperation

In her address, Ambassador Siv-Leng Chhuor emphasized the strong cooperation that already exists between France and Laos, stating that the creation of the CCIL represents a shared commitment to further strengthen economic and trade relations. She highlighted the Chamber’s pivotal role in supporting both French and Laotian businesses.

Mr. François Corbin reaffirmed his full support for the Chamber's future initiatives, also extending the backing of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He underlined the strategic importance of ASEAN for French businesses, particularly in fostering deeper economic ties with Laos.

Recognizing Tireless Dedication

The ceremony also recognized Mr. Jean-Pierre Grzelczyk for his exceptional dedication and leadership in reviving the CCIL. His efforts in bringing the Chamber to life were commended by all attendees, highlighting his central role in its establishment.

The new Executive Secretary of the Chamber, Mrs. Daramany Pathammavong, was also introduced. She will play a key role in managing and developing the Chamber’s activities moving forward.

Strong Mobilization of Economic Stakeholders

The inauguration was attended by the French Foreign Trade Advisors (CCE) and members of the Chamber, who showed great enthusiasm and support for the new initiative. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in Franco-Laotian trade relations, with ambitions to stimulate economic exchanges, foster innovation, and build stronger partnerships.

The creation of the CCIL, which was first announced during the France-Laos Economic Forum in November 2023, marks a major milestone in consolidating the economic relationship between the two countries. The Chamber is set to serve as a growth engine for businesses in both nations, promoting sustainable development and strategic partnerships that will enhance the bilateral economic landscape.
