The network will also feature a 0.4-kilovolt low-voltage extension to expand access for rural areas.

The official signing ceremony for the project took place on October 31, 2024, with key stakeholders in attendance, including Mr. Soulivanh Phommachit, Head of the Energy and Mines Department; Mr. Vongmany Peuapasa, Head of the Provincial Planning and Investment Department; and Mr. Phunxay Phunmixay, Head of PS Construction and Tourism Co., Ltd. The project encompasses a medium-voltage grid covering 143.08 kilometers and a low-voltage network extending 9.55 kilometers, along with the installation of 19 transformers. The infrastructure will link key areas from Khalang Village to Sa Village and from Nam Long Dam to Pakhouy Village in Long District, improving energy distribution throughout Luang Namtha Province.

With a total investment of 218.7 billion kip, the construction is anticipated to span four years, underpinned by state funding as part of the 2024 investment plan. Survey and design activities began in mid-2021, following a competitive procurement process to ensure compliance with national standards.
