(KPL) On October 8, 2024, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Vientiane during the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits. The two leaders discussed ways to further enhance the long-standing friendship and cooperation between their countries.

Prime Minister Sonexay warmly welcomed Hun Manet, emphasizing that his participation in the ASEAN Summits would help strengthen the already close ties between Laos and Cambodia. The meeting served as another milestone in the deepening of their comprehensive and long-term strategic partnership.

The leaders covered a broad range of topics, including political cooperation, defense and security, economic and trade relations, tourism, finance, energy, communications, transportation, education, and border management. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the enduring unity and cooperation that have characterized their relationship as neighboring nations.

They reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a stable and mutually beneficial partnership, with a focus on enhancing collaboration in key sectors such as trade, investment, and tourism. They also emphasized the importance of creating favorable conditions for businesses from both countries to work together and share expertise.

Prime Minister Hun Manet thanked the Lao government for its hospitality and extended his best wishes for a successful ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024. Prime Minister Sonexay, in turn, accepted an invitation to make an official visit to Cambodia at a mutually agreed-upon time.

This meeting marked a continued effort by both countries to solidify their strategic partnership and promote closer cooperation in various fields.
