ASEAN ministers review Political-Security Community Blueprint implementation

KPL On October 8, at the National Convention Centre, in Vientiane Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith presided over the 28th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting under the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience”.

(KPL) On October 8, at the National Convention Centre, in Vientiane Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith presided over the 28th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting under the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience”. 

The meeting was attended by ASEAN Foreign Ministers, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs of Indonesia, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste, and ASEAN delegates.

The 28th APSC Council Meeting reviewed and highly valued the achievements made thus far in the implementation of the APSC Blueprint 2025 whose action lines have been successfully implemented at 99.6%, while there is an action line that needs to be addressed and implemented within 2025.

The Meeting took note of the implementation of various work and activities of sectoral bodies under the APSC pillar in 2024 under the Lao PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship, including the outcomes of and activities under the ASEAN Defence Minister’s Meeting (ADMM), ASEAN Defence Minister’s Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus), ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC), ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), and ASEAN Network of Regulatory Bodies on Atomic Energy (ASEANTOM), ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights, and other APSC mechanisms.

The Meeting also took note of annual report 2023 of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation.
