(KPL) Severe weather, including heavy rains and strong winds from Typhoon Yagi, has caused significant damage in Luang Namtha Province, particularly to the education sector.

 A report from the Provincial Department of Education and Sports revealed that 50 schools have been affected by the floods, including 3 secondary schools, 7 lower secondary schools, 23 primary schools, and 17 kindergartens.

Initial damage assessments show that essential teaching materials, such as textbooks, teacher guides, and school equipment, were destroyed. Additionally, several buildings have suffered structural damage.

The disaster has impacted nearly 6,000 people in the education sector, including 362 teachers and over 5,600 students. The local authorities are working on recovery efforts to ensure education can resume as soon as possible.
