U.S. Provides Laptops to Lao PDR in Support of ASEAN Chair Year

KPL (KPL)The U.S. Government provided 50 laptops worth more than USD145,000 to the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs in support of Laos’s ASEAN chair year during a ceremony on May 6, 2024.

U.S. Ambassador to the Lao PDR, Heather Variava (R), presented the laptops to Chatoulong Bouasisavath, Director General ASEAN Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

U.S. Ambassador to Lao PDR, Heather Variava, presented the laptops to Chatoulong Bouasisavath, Director General ASEAN Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The United States recognizes the extensive ASEAN schedule of summits and meetings the Lao PDR is organizing throughout 2024,” said Ambassador Variava. “We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside ASEAN’s dialogue partners and other invited guests, contributing to Lao PDR’s efforts for a successful Chair Year focused on the theme of “Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience” for all ASEAN member states.”

The United States is committed to ASEAN centrality, a free and open Indo-Pacific, and to supporting the security and prosperity of our partners. This donation is part of that long-standing commitment, and the U.S. Government will continue to pursue new avenues of dialogue and drive inclusive prosperity in this critical region. The United States stands resolutely with ASEAN to promote respect for human rights, the rule of law, and good governance.
