PM's message on Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific

KPL (KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on 22 April 2024 delivered an address at at the opening of the 80th Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), under the theme “Leveraging Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific.


(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on 22 April 2024 delivered an address at at the opening of the 80th Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), under the theme “Leveraging Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific.”

The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the achievements of the UNESCAP over the past eight decades, which have contributed to encouraging and promoting cooperation for economic and social development in the Asia-Pacific region.

In his address, Prime Minister Sonexay also informed the meeting about the Lao PDR's efforts to address the poverty of the Lao people and develop a green economy to ensure a sustainable growth thus moving towards graduating from the status of least developed country by 2026, as well as the government’s attempt to turn landlocked Laos into a land-linked nation.

He reiterated the commitment of the Lao government to realize sustainable development goals through the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and the approval of the national digital economy development vision (2021-2040) that highlights digital government, digital economy and digital society.
