Over 200 Buddha images unearthed

KPL (KPL) Some 201 Buddha statues have been unearthed in Pheungkham Island, Tonpheung district, Bokeo Province since Mar 11, 2024.

(KPL) Some 201 Buddha statues have been unearthed in Pheungkham Island, Tonpheung district, Bokeo Province since Mar 11, 2024.

These include 18 images unearthed yesterday, Apr 2, according to Thonglith Luangkhoth, Deputy Director of the Department of Heritage, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.

The found statues vary in sizes ranging from 14 cm to 41 cm high.

The excavation area is so-called the site of the ancient city of Souvannakhomkham dating back to more than 1967 years ago.

Excavation team also found four Bodhi leaf Buddha statues, one Pang Lila Buddha statue, and two Simha statues.
