Medical Teams Ready for 12th Lao Party Congress

KPL The Department of Treatment and Rehabilitation has completed comprehensive preparations to provide healthcare and food safety services for the 12th National Congress of Delegates of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.

Medical teams have been mobilized from Mahosot Hospital, Friendship Hospital, Setthathirath Hospital, the 103 Central Military Hospital, and the 5th of April Hospital to ensure delegates receive prompt and professional care, particularly at the National Convention Center.

At the Convention Center, medical service points have been set up at three locations:

Point 1: Behind the main conference hall, serving senior leaders.

Point 2: In front of the conference hall, serving delegates and invited guests.

Point 3: Providing medical services to the general public.

In addition, medical teams have been stationed at six hotels accommodating Party delegates.

Dr. Thongsy Vongphachan, Head of the Central Healthcare Department, Ministry of Public Health, told the media that Point 1 is staffed with doctors and specialists from treatment and rehabilitation departments to serve senior leaders. Immediate on-site treatment will be available in case of emergencies, with two ambulances on standby for patient transport. Point 2 will serve delegates and invited guests, while Point 3 will cater to the general public.

The Department has also deployed food safety teams to inspect and monitor food quality, collect samples, and analyze food and beverages to ensure safety. These teams are responsible for maintaining environmental sanitation at hotels, restaurants, conference venues, and food preparation sites serving the congress.

Meanwhile, the disease control unit has been monitoring seasonal communicable diseases among delegates. Measures include preparedness and response planning for potential outbreaks, mosquito larvae surveys, elimination of breeding sites, and vector control to prevent dengue fever at conference venues and accommodation sites.
