(KPL) As the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party prepares for the successful convening of its 12th National Congress, relevant sectors and security forces are intensifying efforts to ensure order, safety, and convenience throughout the event.

Among the key contributors, the Traffic Police Force under the General Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security has deployed personnel to strategic locations at the National Convention Center. Their responsibilities include managing vehicle parking within the venue grounds and ensuring smooth and orderly access for all congress delegates.

Lieutenant Colonel Bounmee Luangbandit, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Office under the General Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security and Head of the National Convention Center Security Command, said the Traffic Police Office is tasked with facilitating traffic flow and maintaining order at meeting venues and accommodation sites for the 12th National Party Congress.

As of January 5, 2026, traffic police personnel have been fully mobilized and stationed at various key points. Preparations include more than 50 officers and a range of technical support equipment, with overall readiness reported at 100 percent. In addition, coordination has been strengthened with the Vientiane Capital Traffic Police to manage traffic along major routes, particularly Kaysone Phomvihane Road.

On this occasion, Lieutenant Colonel Bounmee Luangbandit called on road users to avoid main thoroughfares, especially Kaysone Phomvihane Road, during the congress period in order to help ensure smooth operations and the overall success of the event.

Meanwhile,  Lieutenant Colonel Khan Khamphonvilay, Head of the Internal Security Unit at the National Convention Center, emphasized that internal security forces play a core and honorable role in guarding entrances and exits for attending guests. He noted that orderliness and discipline within the venue depend largely on these security personnel.

He added that all specialized duty officers are fully prepared to serve the congress with dedication, strict discipline, and strength, ensuring absolute safety throughout the event.

The Lao PDR has taken a significant step toward restoring wild tigers with the finalization of the National Tiger Recovery Action Plan (NTRAP) 2026–2035, a long-term national framework designed to guide conservation efforts in priority ecological landscapes across the country. The plan comes at a critical time, as there has been no confirmed scientific evidence of wild tigers in Laos since 2013, when the last individual was recorded by camera traps in Nam Et–Phou Louey National Park.
