KPL In a strategic move to address ongoing economic challenges and foster financial sector development, Laos will host its first-ever "Lao Money Expo 2025" this December, organizers announced.

The landmark event, officially named the Lao Money Expo 2025, is set to take place from December 15 to 20 at the Lao-ITECC in Vientiane. Under the theme "Money for Growth," the expo aims to serve as a comprehensive platform uniting regulators, financial institutions, investors, and the public.

The announcement was made by Ms. Khemkham Khatsavang, Deputy Director General of Cabinet Office, Bank of Lao PDR, during a press conference on September 30, 2025. She outlined the expo's primary objective of supporting the national agenda to tackle current economic and financial difficulties.

"The event will create an opportunity for financial institutions, investors, and the public to share ideas for developing the banking sector in an integrated manner," stated Ms. Khemkham. She emphasized that the expo will act as a crucial meeting place for businesses to access information and secure funding, while also boosting public understanding of financial tools and safe practices in an era of rapid digital transformation.

The expo is also designed as a forum for stakeholders to exchange views on resolving persistent issues within the financial sector and to chart a course for its future development, ensuring it remains competitive with regional and international standards.

In a significant step toward the event's realization, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the press conference between Ms. Khemkham Khatsavang and Ms. Xaythany Chanthavongsa, Chairwomen of Happy Event Company. This agreement formalizes the collaboration for the expo's organization, with both parties committed to achieving its set targets.

The week-long event will feature a diverse range of activities. Attendees can explore exhibition booths from a wide array of financial players, including commercial banks, insurance companies, securities markets, and fintech service providers.

A key component of the expo will be a series of conferences and panel discussions on critical financial topics. These sessions will feature insights from both domestic and international experts from the public and private sectors. To foster financial literacy from a young age, the event will also host financial knowledge competitions and engaging activities tailored for youth and children.

The Lao Money Expo 2025 represents a concerted effort by the nation's banking and financial sector to stimulate growth, encourage investment, and build a more resilient and inclusive financial ecosystem for all Lao citizens.
