(KPL) Minister of Public Works and Transport Mr. Leklay Sivilay, accompanied by Deputy Minister and Road Sector Leader Mr. Littha Khatthiya, conducted a site inspection of the southern section of National Road No. 13 on July 22, 2025. The visit covered the stretch from Ban Khok Sivilay in Xaythany District, Vientiane Capital, to Ban Xaysavang in Thaphabat District, Bolikhamxay Province—a total distance of 50 kilometers (km 21 to km 71).

The inspection follows the signing of a construction contract on June 12, 2025, between the ministry and a joint venture comprising Road Construction Company No. 8 and Bridge Construction and Repair Company Limited. Mr. Somxay Chaleun, representing the contractors, joined the inspection alongside other relevant stakeholders.

Minister Leklay instructed the companies to prioritize road maintenance during the ongoing rainy season to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize accidents. He emphasized the importance of safety measures and noise reduction, particularly in the lead-up to the 50th anniversary of the Lao National Day on December 2 and the 6th General Conference of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The contractors pledged to cooperate fully and implement temporary road repair measures during the rainy season. Although full construction is scheduled to commence post-rainy season, preparatory activities such as design development, design approval, and material sourcing are already underway to ensure immediate mobilization when conditions improve.

The project is part of ongoing national infrastructure upgrades to support transportation safety, connectivity, and national event readiness.
