(KPL) Xiengkhouang Province will hold its annual Khao Kai Noy Rice Festival from 26 to 30 November 2025 at the Provincial Museum grounds, celebrating one of Laos’ most distinctive rice varieties and the cultural heritage of the region.
The festival will feature stalls showcasing agricultural products, handicrafts, local cuisine, and a range of goods, with Khao Kai Noy rice as the event’s highlight. Visitors will also be able to enjoy performances, competitions, and cultural activities throughout the five-day programme.
The schedule includes the opening of the One District One Product (ODOP) exhibition on 26 November, followed by pageants and market visits on 27 November. The official opening ceremony will take place on 28 November, accompanied by art performances, fashion shows, and traditional twin-drum displays.
Religious and cultural activities will be held on 29 November, including an alms-giving ceremony for nine monks, a Baci ceremony dedicated to Khao Kai Noy rice, and various competitions. The final day, 30 November, will feature concerts, art performances and a Lam Vong dance to mark three historic national days.
Visitors to Phonsavanh and the wider province can also explore key attractions such as the Plain of Jars World Heritage Site, historic temples in Muang Khoun, natural hot springs, and notable natural sites including Tham Piew Cave and Tad Kha Waterfall.
