Jointly hosted with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) of Korea, the mission sought to strengthen export opportunities for Korean food ingredients amid the rapid growth of Laos’ food, beverage, and franchise markets, as well as the rising popularity of Korean cuisine among local consumers.

The companies showcased a variety of high-quality products such as sauces, beverages, organic eggs, ginseng drinks, tteokbokki, and premium Korean beef.

The mission opened on October 23 at the Crowne Plaza Vientiane with a corporate networking seminar and export consultation session. Representatives from the Department of Domestic Trade of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the LK Group, and Lanxang Media Sole Co., Ltd. shared valuable insights into Laos’ economic landscape, logistics, and retail distribution trends.

Following the seminar, one-on-one B2B meetings were held between the eight Korean exporters and 22 Lao companies from the food, hospitality, and retail sectors, including SVL Trading, Kokkok Mart, Sokxay Mart, and Lao Derm Group. A total of 49 business consultations were conducted, paving the way for new trade and investment opportunities.

A highlight of the mission was the signing of a Joint Venture Agreement between Mirmaro Food System Inc. (IDO) of Korea and SVL Trading Import-Export Sole Co., Ltd. of Laos to establish a sauce processing and franchise business in Laos, fostering local production and technology exchange.

The mission continued at Parkson Department Store on October 24–25, where the K-Food Town Festival 2025 attracted over 7,300 visitors. The festival featured 30 booths showcasing Korean brands, franchises, and local restaurants, along with live cooking shows, product demonstrations, and K-culture performances.

The event was attended by Mr. Jung Yung Soo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Laos, and Mr. Park Jungwe, Director General of KOTRA Vientiane, alongside representatives from Lao distributors and industry stakeholders.

In his remarks, Ambassador Jung Yung Soo said, “Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and the Republic of Korea, the success of this event reflects the strong friendship and economic partnership between our two countries. It is a meaningful step in enhancing bilateral trade and promoting Korean food culture in the Lao market.”

At the closing ceremony, Best Seller Awards were presented to outstanding companies, with Hanwoo beef and tteokbokki recognized as the top-selling products. The festival generated over USD 6,300 in sales revenue.

Mr. Park Jungwe highlighted, “Laos’ food service industry has expanded rapidly with the growth of franchise restaurants, shopping malls, and modern retail outlets. The increasing interest in Korean food culture presents an excellent opportunity for deeper cooperation between our two countries, particularly in the agri-food sector.”

The K-Food Ingredient Trade Mission 2025 not only achieved tangible business outcomes but also reinforced the shared commitment of Korea and Laos to fostering a sustainable, mutually beneficial partnership in the agri-food industry. Through a dynamic blend of business matching, consumer engagement, and joint ventures, the event successfully showcased the quality and diversity of Korean food products, laying a strong foundation for continued collaboration and long-term cooperation.
