On August 28, 2025, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Vice President of the Lao PDR, received a farewell visit from Ms. Siv-Leng Chhuor, Ambassador of France to the Lao PDR, on the occasion of the completion of her diplomatic mission.

(KPL) On August 28, 2025, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Vice President of the Lao PDR, received a farewell visit from Ms. Siv-Leng Chhuor, Ambassador of France to the Lao PDR, on the occasion of the completion of her diplomatic mission.
Mr. Bounthong Chitmany expressed his appreciation for the Ambassador’s achievements during her four-year tenure, noting her active role in strengthening and gradually expanding cooperative relations between France and the Lao PDR. He also conveyed gratitude for the support and assistance provided by the French government and people, particularly through the French Development Agency, which has made important contributions to Laos’ development. He wished the Ambassador a safe return and success in her future endeavors.
In response, Ambassador Siv-Leng Chhuor thanked the Vice President and the leadership of the Lao Party and State for their support throughout her mission. She commended Laos’ recent achievements, including the 2024 official visit to France by President Thongloun Sisoulith, and affirmed her commitment to continue contributing to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The Lao PDR and France established diplomatic relations on October 22, 1953.
