(KPL/Xinhua) Indonesia's carbon market has recorded transactions worth 78.37 billion rupiah (about 4.82 million U.S. dollars) from its official launch on Sept. 26, 2023 to Aug. 22, 2025, the Indonesia Carbon Exchange announced on Monday.
"Although most transactions are from listed companies and their subsidiaries, our service users are increasingly diverse, including many carbon market players who are starting to retail carbon trading," said Ignatius Denny Wicaksono, head of business development division 2 at the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
He noted that the growing involvement of retail investors reflects rising public awareness of sustainability and the importance of reducing carbon footprints.
During the period, trading volume reached 1.6 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent across 281 transactions.
To further strengthen the ecosystem, Indonesia's Financial Services Authority has issued a carbon trading guidebook for the financial services sector, aiming to expand participation and support the country's low-carbon development agenda.
