(KPL) The Khammouane Provincial Internet Management Committee has issued a directive mandating the closure of all internet cafes and game credit shops involved in online gambling activities across the province, effective July 15, 2025.

The order applies to businesses operating internet services and gaming platforms that are found to promote or facilitate forms of online gambling, which authorities deem harmful to public order, youth development, and social well-being.

The move follows rising concerns about the misuse of internet cafes and game credit shops as platforms for illegal betting and gambling, especially targeting young people. Authorities cited the need to strengthen internet regulation and align digital services with legal and ethical standards.

All affected businesses are instructed to halt operations by the effective date. Provincial authorities have also warned that violators will face strict legal action, including fines and potential criminal charges.

The directive underscores Khammouane Province's effort to combat illegal online activities and ensure a safer, more regulated digital environment for its citizens.
