(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has received a message of condolences from Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra following the passing of General Khamtay Siphandone, former President of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and former State President.
In her message, dated April 4, Prime Minister Paetongtarn expressed profound sympathy to Prime Minister Sonexay, the Siphandone family, and the Lao people, highlighting General Khamtay’s vital role in Laos’ national development and his contribution to fostering enduring ties between Thailand and Laos over the past seven decades.
She noted that General Khamtay’s official visit to Thailand in February 1992 served as a milestone in bilateral relations and laid a foundation for the close and productive cooperation that continues today.
On April 3, Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane also received a message of condolences from his Thai counterpart, Maris Sangiampongsa.
