(KPL/VNA) Deputy Prime Minister and Public Security Minister Gen. Vilay Lakhamphong and Vietnam’s Minister of Public Security Gen. Luong Tam Quang on January 12 co-chaired a conference in Hanoi to review the implementation of the two ministries’ cooperation plan in 2024.
It was reported at the conference that in the past year, the global and regional situation was marked by complex and unpredictable developments, significantly impacting the socio-economic development and security maintenance efforts in both countries.
Under the close direction of both ministries' leaders, the police forces of Vietnam and Laos successfully fulfilled their duties in ensuring national security and social order.
The two sides effectively organised and implemented the outcomes of the 14th Laos - Vietnam Security Cooperation Conference, addressing many crucial issues relevant to maintaining security and order in each country.
Additionally, both sides effectively conducted joint efforts against transnational organised crime, including drug and human trafficking, and coordinated in criminal justice assistance. They also successfully held a bilateral ministerial conference on crime prevention and maintenance of social order and safety.
Furthermore, their cooperation in combating illegal immigration, high-tech crime, and online fraud yielded positive results.
At the conference, Vilay and Quang signed the two ministries’ cooperation plan for 2025. Accordingly, the two sides will enhance security cooperation, ensure mutual support and protect each other’s legitimate interests; while jointly addressing increasingly diverse and complex security challenges.
Additionally, the police forces of the two countries will maintain mechanisms for information exchange at various levels and continue discussions on the plots and tricks of hostile forces that threat national security and social order in both nations.
Both sides will collaborate closely to safeguard political security, prevent sabotage activities, and protect national security from foreign interference and peaceful evolution schemes. They will also join hands to ensure the safety of high-level visits between the leaders of both nations and protect the citizens of each country living, working, and studying in the other.
Vilay is paying a visit to Vietnam from January 11-13 at the invitation of Minister Luong Tam Quang.
