Interparliamentary ties between Cuba and Russia extolled

KPL (KPL/Prensa Latina) The president of the National People's Power Assembly (Parliament) of Cuba, Esteban Lazo, extolled the intense interparliamentary relations between his country and Russia, and thanked Moscow for its support.

(KPL/Prensa Latina) The president of the National People's Power Assembly (Parliament) of Cuba, Esteban Lazo, extolled the intense interparliamentary relations between his country and Russia, and thanked Moscow for its support.    

In a via video-conference with the president of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia (upper house), Valentina Matvienko, Lazo conveyed greetings from the leader of the Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro, and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Lazo congratulated Matvienko on her re-election and referred to the importance of the meetings between working groups from both countries, the visits of representatives from various ministries and the exercises of parliamentary control around bilateral agreements.

For her part, Matvienko reiterated Russia’s firm position against the US Government’s blockade of Cuba, as well as the demand that Cuba be excluded from the State Sponsors of Terrorim (SSOT) list.

According to national television, Matvienko stressed the importance of parliamentary collaboration and the increase in cooperation in several areas and between Russian regions and Cuban provinces.
