(KPL) The government’s achievements as the chair of ASEAN in 2024 were celebrated during a review meeting of the National Steering Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.

At the meeting, representatives from 14 sub-committees overseeing ASEAN events throughout the year presented their success stories, outlined challenges encountered, and proposed solutions for smoother organization of future events.

Prime Minister Sonexay commended the contributions of the sub-committees, ministries, businesses, and provincial authorities to the success of Laos' ASEAN chairmanship. He emphasized the importance of drawing lessons from this experience to improve the organization of future regional and global gatherings hosted by Laos.

The chairmanship was guided by the theme, “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience,” aligning with the Lao government’s vision to transform its landlocked position into a hub for regional integration. The theme underscores ASEAN’s collective goal of fostering a connected, resilient, and adaptive region amidst dynamic global challenges.

The success of Laos’ ASEAN chairmanship was attributed to the collective efforts of government ministries, the general public, businesses, the military, and police. Their collaboration has been instrumental in showcasing Laos as a capable and forward-thinking member of ASEAN.
