AIT Alumni Association Hosts 53rd Governance Board Meeting in Vientiane, Celebrates Enhanced Connectivity

KPL The Asian Institute of Technology Alumni Association (AITAA) successfully convened its 53rd Governance Board Meeting (GBM) in Vientiane from November 22–24, 2024, under the theme “Enhancing Connectivity and Strengthening Partnerships.” The event, organized by the AITAA Lao Chapter at the Soutsaka Institute of Technology (SIT), brought together representatives from 19 AITAA Chapters worldwide.

(KPL) The Asian Institute of Technology Alumni Association (AITAA) successfully convened its 53rd Governance Board Meeting (GBM) in Vientiane from November 22–24, 2024, under the theme “Enhancing Connectivity and Strengthening Partnerships.” The event, organized by the AITAA Lao Chapter at the Soutsaka Institute of Technology (SIT), brought together representatives from 19 AITAA Chapters worldwide.

The three-day gathering opened with a welcome dinner at Laotel Hotel on November 22, setting a warm tone for the formal meeting on November 23. Presided over by AIT President Pa Chi Li, AITAA Mother Chapter President Donald Ugsang, and AITAA Lao Chapter President Mr. Somphone Sisenglath, the meeting featured discussions on the association’s progress and future goals. Delegates also reviewed the AITAA Annual Report, emphasizing efforts to enhance alumni connectivity and technological innovation.

The day’s proceedings concluded with a gala dinner that celebrated alumni achievements, followed by a cultural city tour of Vientiane on November 24. Delegates explored Laotian heritage and enjoyed the hospitality of the host chapter.

A significant highlight of the event was the Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA) ceremony. The Lao Chapter honored three alumni for their exceptional contributions: Mr Linkham Douangsavanh, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry (Public Sector), Ms. Xoukiet Panyanouvong (International Affairs) and Mr. Panthavy Sisongkham, General Director of Lao Skyways (Business and Professional Practice).

The success of the 53rd GBM not only reinforced AITAA’s mission of fostering global connections but also showcased its commitment to leveraging digital technologies for stronger alumni engagement. The event underscored AITAA's dedication to building partnerships and highlighted the role of its members in advancing regional and international collaboration.

As AITAA continues to expand its global footprint, the 53rd GBM set a precedent for future initiatives that bridge communities through innovation and shared goals.
