(KPL) The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Vientiane is progressing steadily, with completion anticipated by mid-2025 to provide sustainable public transportation for residents.
On October 28, Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Litta Khatthiya, inspected the construction sites, noting that approximately 30% of the project is finished.
The BRT project involves building 27 bus stations in two phases, with Construction Company No. 8 handling 19 of them. Infrastructure is completed for nine stations, with Phonsa-ad station fully finalized, while the other nine stations are focused on foundation work.
Road widening is underway in narrow sections to facilitate traffic flow around the centrally positioned stations. Once construction wraps up, the BRT will undergo a three-month trial period, during which the public can access the service free of charge, leading to the official launch later in 2025.
