International Diplomats Briefed on 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits Preparations

KPL On September 20, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting to brief diplomats of ASEAN member states and ASEAN dialogue partners about the preparations for the upcoming 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related summits, to be held in Vientiane next month.

(KPL) On September 20, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting to brief diplomats of ASEAN member states and ASEAN dialogue partners about the preparations for the upcoming 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related summits, to be held in Vientiane next month.

The briefing was attended by diplomatic corps from ASEAN member states, and ASEAN dialogue partners.

The briefing was chaired by Chatoulong Bouasisavath, Director General of the ASEAN Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He highlighted the country’s readiness in various aspects, including conference venues, accommodation, visa procedures, transportation, security measures, and the registration process for delegations. 

Emphasis was placed on the preparedness of Vientiane’s airport, the distribution of documents, and the availability of media centers to support over 1,000 journalists from Laos and abroad who are expected to cover the event.

Following the briefing, participants were taken on a tour of the main summit venue, the National Convention Centre, where they inspected meeting rooms, guest reception areas, and other facilities that will be used during the summits.

More than 20 high-level meetings will take place under the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience.” The summits will bring together heads of state and government from ASEAN member states, dialogue partners, with representatives from over 30 countries and international organizations expected to participate. In total, more than 2,000 delegates are anticipated to attend the meetings.
