(KPL/Prensa Latina) The Latin American and Caribbean Ministerial Summit on AI will be inaugurated in the city of Cartagena, in northern Colombia, and will see the participation of authorities and experts related to the subject.

The Minister of Information Technologies and Communications of Colombia, Mauricio Lizcano, announced that the attendees will analyze the challenges and opportunities presented by AI to address a joint declaration that defines a common vision on the topic.

Around twenty ministers and nine ministerial functionaries from 17 countries in the region are expected to attend, as well as legislators, technological experts, and industry leaders in AI.

Lizcano pointed out that the summit will be a key debate space to define and consolidate regional strategies to make the most of the potential of this technology, following three axes of discussion: AI Enabling Ecosystems, Digital Education for AI, and Governance.

“In a world increasingly driven by technology, it is essential that Latin America and the Caribbean position themselves as leaders in implementing AI. The Latin American and Caribbean Ministerial Summit on AI will open the opportunity for countries to work together to strengthen strategies around this transformative technology,” the minister stated.
