Special Dormitory Opens at Mother and Newborn Hospital

KPL (KPL) The opening ceremony for the special dormitory of the Mother and Newborn Hospital in Vientiane took place on July 6. The event was attended by Minister of Health Bounfeng Phoummalaysith, the President’s spouse Naly Sisoulith, Director of the Mother and Newborn Hospital Sivanxay Chanthavongsack, and representatives of relevant authorities.


(KPL) The opening ceremony for the special dormitory of the Mother and Newborn Hospital in Vientiane took place on July 6. The event was attended by Minister of Health Bounfeng Phoummalaysith, the President’s spouse Naly Sisoulith, Director of the Mother and Newborn Hospital Sivanxay Chanthavongsack, and representatives of relevant authorities.

Head of Litpanya Research Design-Construction Co., Ltd., Sunatta Litpanya, stated that the construction of this special building aligns with the Ministry of Health’s development plan and policies, adhering to the government's guidelines and meeting the current needs of society.

The new building has been designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing hospital facilities for mothers and newborns. It measures 32.6 meters in width and 59 meters in length, and it is a 3-story structure housing 50 specialized rooms, categorized into four types: two VIP luxury rooms, four luxury suites, 21 VIP rooms, and 23 Deluxe rooms.

Additionally, the building features a nurse’s room, a 24-hour nurse reception station, a newborn bathroom, a medication room, an administrative office, a restaurant, a coffee shop, and a minimart. It is equipped with comprehensive technical systems, including medical systems, electrical systems (with backup power), elevators, CCTVs, Internet, water supply, and wastewater management systems.

The project’s total investment amounts to 144.6 billion kip (approximately 6.4 million USD). Of this, the company invested 101.2 billion kip (about 4.5 million USD), equivalent to 70% of the shares. The hospital contributed the rights to use 3,700 square meters of land, valued at 43.3 billion kip (equivalent to 1.9 million USD), representing 30% of the shares. The construction period was 3 years as the joint business operation term for the project is 25 years.
