(KPL) The French Embassy in Vientiane held a reception to celebrate the International Francophonie Day at the residence of the Ambassador of French to Laos Siv-Leng Chhuor on Mar 21.

The reception was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affair Phoxay Khaykhamphithoun, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Kingmano Phommahaxay, representatives of government organizations and diplomats.

Ambassador Siv-Leng Chhuor highlighted that the richness of French was a shared language of cultural diversity and bridge between cultures and peoples. 

Laos fully belongs to the Francophonie. The French government supports an unparalleled linguistic programme bilingual classes, a Francophone department at the National University of Laos, a French high school, French teachers, and teachers of French, French Institute.

“France continues this long-term effort with substantial human and financial resources because we believe that French is a wealth for those who learn it even before being an opportunity for our bilateral relationship,” said Ambassador Siv-Leng Chhuor.
