(KPL) The Employment Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Lao Employment Business Association launched on Mar 22 an annual event Job Fest 2024 (Mar 22-24) at the International Cooperation and Training Centre, Vientiane.

The opening ceremony for the event was officiated by Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Baykham Khatthiya in the presence of Resident Representative of UNDP to the Lao PDR Martine Therer, students, representatives of vocational schools and skills training centres.

Almost 60 companies, employment enterprises, and public and private partners were represented at the festival.

Job Fest 2024 aimed to introduce to companies and job seekers the consulting and employment service tools of the labour information system of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare which has been developed through the cooperation between the Employment Department of MLSW and Lailaolab ICT Solution Company.

The festival allowed jobseekers to meet with employers, access labour information, and enrich their understanding of labour market and skills development.

During the festival, more than 1,700 workers were sought by domestic and foreign companies for 560 vacant positions.

As employers and jobseekers are meeting in online and offline modes, employee selection and recruitment will be conducted every day during the festival, according to Minister Baykham Khatthiya.
