Champassak Governor Vilayvong Bouddakham and other senior officials from central and local state departments joined the event.
This year Vat Phou Festival was celebrated on Feb. 22 to 24.
The annual festival and almsgiving are rituals that the people of Champasak province have inherited from ancient times which are also celebration of the opening of Visit Laos Year 2024 of Champasak Province.
The Wat Phu Festival takes place every year, on the 15th day of the increasing moon of the 3rd month (in January-February) and coincides with the Makha Busa Buddhist Festival.
On this occasion, Most Venerable Monk Maha Bounma Simmaphom, President of Lao Buddhist Fellowship Organization called on the Lao people to adhere to good deeds, morals and the teachings of the lord Buddha and preserve the fine customs and culture of the nation.
