KPL (KPL) Oudomxay Provincial Health Office has been focusing on nutrition work for mothers and children in 2021-2025.

(KPL​) Oudomxay​ Provincial Health Office has been focusing on nutrition work for mothers and children in 2021-2025.

 Deputy Head of Oudomxay​ provincial health Office, Dr Phoutseng Theumbounmee said on December 6 the implementation of 10 indicators of health and nutrition work for mothers, newborns, children and youth in Oudomxay province for the year 2023 has significantly progressed.

The Provincial health Office has also been focusing on nutrition and breastfeeding work to achieve next 5 years national plans of mothers and children in the year of 2021-2025 and accelerating the implementation of the nutrition strategy with 7 groups, 19 indicators and 82 sub-activities to meet the National Nutrition Action Plan 2021-2025.

It aims to reduce nutritional deficiency among children under 5 years old, follow up and promote the implementation of the 5-task activities: prenatal check-up, and post-natal check-up, vaccination, nutritional assessment of children under 5 years of age, and family planning.

According to the target goal, aiming at help the children under 5 years old who are shortage of nutrition reduced by 15% of the plan, throughout actual implementation completed 13%.  As the height of children was 15% of the plan while compared to the standard was 18%.

The Lao government has prioritised the nutrition as an important issue since 2008.

The nutrition work was supported by many partners and the European Union through UNICEF in Lao PDR.
